WAR – Just The Same Old Bollocks

MMORPG published an interview with James Casey – shame he can’t be arsed to talk to the playerbase directly – Interview – there’s no indication of when it took place.

Bear in mind that Mythic find it very convenient to talk about Warhammer Online as a catch all, they can then talk about WAR and WOH in the same breath. This makes it look as though all the work on WOH also applies to WAR – this is a load of shite as we all know.

So what does James tell us apart from the same old “there are things to come”

He passively absorbs feedback via the forums and blogs – the Bioware and Warhammer Alliance forums must make for difficult reading nowadays and just how many WAR bloggers are there left?
Mythic continue to look at the subscription model to see how it will benefit both Mythic and the players – just how long can Mythic continue to gouge it’s subscribers to support WOH and how long will the players put up with it.
What can we look forward to in 2012 – 1.4.5 with Govrod Caverns, Relics and Fortresses, T7 armour and the return of Ironclad and things he can’t tell us about.
So it’s all just the reintroduction of old features with the addition of the Relic mechanic and a bit of cosmetic fluff.
I seem to remember Sylvania (Vampire Counts) was once hinted at but seems to have disappeared and what about the bleedin’ WAR website?

So it’s just the same old guff they’ve been feeding us with all through 2011.

  1. Well since the vampire counts are coming next to Warhammer Tabletop, so if they ever wanted to bring people back/ new people in, now is their chance…I think it is their last chance to bring people back, judging from what I read on the forums. So new people (like me) it is then.

I would be a nice tie-in but I can’t see it happening now – I can’t see a great deal happening now to be honest. Mythic may staff up for WAR once they get UO and DAOC nice and shiny but by then the damage will have been done.
But don’t let me put you off playing – it’s still a good game but I don’t think it’s worth the subscription.

      • Fez,

I agree. Just dreaming mostly, when I saw your post on the jade trophies it got my game idea wheelhouse spinning! Indeed their biggest problem is monetizing–the game could be “broken” at higher tiers but making it F2P/Freemium has such an ameliorating effect, especially on would be new players and former players alike

Alas, they are following the GW model of pricing a lot of people out of the market! I’ll definitely stick with this for awhile to see what develops.

I think it would be good to open all 3 T1 regions to F2P but only open one region at a time – it would give people a better idea of the game and hopefully encourage them to continue. The problem being that WAR needs a constant influx of players to keep T2 and T3 lively otherwise you end up with everyone in T4 and no incentive for new players.
Good luck – it’s definitely the best game for PvP but it’s just got a bit boring after 3 years.
